Years of lobbying has paid off for labor and poverty groups in Ontario.
The provincial government has agreed to increase the minimum wage
to 15 dollars an hour by 2019.
Chris Buckley is the president of the Ontario Federation of Labor and says many
people worked behind the scenes to make this happen.
Other changes included in the Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act include 10 days of emergency leave for
employees, including two paid for by the employer, and three weeks of holiday time after five years
in a job.
