Extreme Cold Warning Continues

Environment Canada's extreme cold warning remains in effect as the frigid temperatures continue.

Meteorologist Mark Schuster tells us the cold snap isn't letting up any time soon, although it's expected to get slightly warmer after New Year's Day.

"Much-below-normal temperatures are likely to persist right through to next weekend and possibly beyond," Schuster says, "But this extreme cold looks like it's going to last just the next day or so."

He explains lows feeling like minus 40 may return later in the week after a brief respite, with highs between minus 11 and minus 18 expected over the next few days.

You're reminded to spend as little time as necessary outside, because the wind chill puts everyone at higher risk of frostbite or hypothermia.
