Expect to see work on the replacement of the 7th Avenue South Bridge to begin in the next month or so.
City council has approved a 1.2 milion dollar contract to replace the aging structure.
Acting mayor Sharon Smith says they wanted to get started sooner rather than later with the demolition work.
"In March when the kids have their break, they are actually going to put in the pedestrian bridge. And then they'll start the rest of the work in June and it's going to be ready for fall. So it it going to move along really fast."
A company called M.D. Steele Construction Limited had the lowest of seven bids on the job.
